Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Elena ("Elena," "we," "us," or "our") is a personal finance tracking service operated by Meet Elena LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company located at 250 Pierce St #203, Kingston, PA 18704. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Elena website at meetelena.app, the Elena web application, and all related features, including Ask Elena (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Elena. The Service is currently intended for individuals in the United States. You may use Elena only for your own personal finances or, where offered, to track a business you own or are authorized to manage.

3. Your account

• Provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password confidential. We strongly recommend turning on two-factor login in Settings.
• You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@meetelena.app if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Free trial, subscription & billing

• Free trial. New accounts receive a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial, but you won't be charged during it.
• Automatic renewal. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged $12.00 per month (plus any applicable taxes) at the end of the trial and every month after, until you cancel.
• Cancel anytime. Cancel from the Manage billing link in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you'll keep access until then.
• Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
• Price changes. If we change the price, we'll notify you in advance by email. The new price applies starting with your next billing period after the notice, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
• Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. If a payment fails, we may pause access until your payment method is updated.

5. Connecting your bank accounts

You can choose to connect bank, credit card, or other financial accounts through Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"). By connecting an account, you authorize Elena and Plaid to access and retrieve your account and transaction information on a read-only basis, solely to provide the Service to you. Elena can never move money, make payments, or initiate transfers.

Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy, available at plaid.com/legal. We rely on data provided by your financial institutions and can't guarantee that it is complete, accurate, or up to date, or that every institution will be supported. You can disconnect any linked account at any time from your dashboard.

6. Ask Elena & AI features

Elena includes, or will include, features powered by artificial intelligence, such as Ask Elena (a chat assistant) and automatic transaction categorization. When you use these features:

• Responses are generated automatically from your information and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect. Please review important numbers yourself before relying on them.
• Ask Elena is designed to help with your own money — income, spending, bills, budgets, debt, savings, and goals — and general financial education. It may decline questions outside that scope.
• Please don't share full account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive information in chat.
• Features may be introduced gradually, labeled "coming soon" or "beta," changed, or discontinued.

7. Not financial advice

Elena is a money tracking and education tool. Elena is not a financial advisor, investment adviser, broker, tax preparer, attorney, credit counselor, credit repair organization, or lender, and nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, legal, or credit advice. Any suggestions — including those from Ask Elena — are general and educational. You're responsible for your own financial decisions. For advice about your specific situation, consult a qualified professional.

8. Your data

The information you enter or connect to Elena belongs to you. You give us permission to store, process, and display it only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't sell your personal information.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Access, or try to access, another person's account or data;
• Connect financial accounts you don't own or aren't authorized to access;
• Reverse-engineer, copy, scrape, or overload the Service, or bypass its security;
• Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful; or
• Attempt to misuse Ask Elena, including trying to extract other users' data.

10. Elena's name, character & content

The Elena name, the Elena character and her likeness, our logos, artwork, software, and website content are owned by Meet Elena LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or use them — including for commercial purposes or to suggest an affiliation with Elena — without our written permission.

11. Communications

By creating an account, you agree that we may email you about your account, including trial and billing notices, security alerts, and important Service updates. If we send marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email; account-related messages will continue while your account is active.

12. Changes to the Service

We work hard to keep Elena available and accurate, but we can't promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may add, change, or remove features over time. If a change materially reduces what your paid subscription includes, we'll let you know in advance.

13. Cancellation & termination

You can cancel your subscription or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or are required to be closed by law. Deleting your account permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meet Elena LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or savings, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.

17. Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Elena grows. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Elena after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
